Ski resort “Mountain Sobolinaya”

It is located at southeast coast of Baikal near the city of Baikalsk 150 km away from Irkutsk, 300 km away from Ulan-Ude.

The resort facilities include:

• mountain ski facilities;
• hotel facilities: hotels “Sobolinaya”, “Baikal”, hotel-town “Russia" (their total capacity is 192 people);
• sports and recreation facility "Baikal" (with a 25-m swimming pool);
• spa;
• bars and restaurants

On the mountain slopes there are 11 pistes of different level of complexity, their total length is 15 km. The maximum difference of heights makes 475 m, the highest mark is 1004 m. There are seven lifts, including a new Doppelmayr passenger aerial cableway with capacity of more than 1400 people per hour (begins to operate in November 2009).

“Mountain Sobolinaya” has warm winters (due to vicinity of a huge lake), average day temperature in winter is minus 10-15 °C), there’s plenty of snow (its thickness is up to 2 meters) and skiing season lasts for almost six months from the beginning of November to the beginning of May.
Important feature of the Mountain is its openness and tolerance. Everyone is welcome and on its slopes everyone will find a suitable entertainment. Here one can simply take walks to enjoy majestic landscapes of nearby mountains and sparkling ice surfaces of Baikal; or rush down abrupt slopes, lifting clouds of snow dust at the breath-taking turns. The place suites married couples with children (there are training slopes and a tubbing piste equipped for them) and youth companies that choose extreme routes. For extreme skiers and snowboarder there are a snow park with a ski-jump and figures for jibbing.

The resort offers health programs in its medical centre, any guest can always use all the optional services - on the resort territory and in Baikalsk there are a SPA-centre, saunas, swimming pool and gyms that work year-round.

“Mountain Sobolinaya” traditionally hosts regional and All-Russia competitions on mountain skiing for professionals and fans of mountain skiing.
Transportation. Irkutsk - Baikalsk: a fixed-route taxi (from the railway station, bus station, central market, time of the trip is 2.5 hours,); a daily commuter train from the railway station (time of the trip is 3 hours).
